The Belagavi city administration will launch a single-window system for permissions for public Ganeshotsav pandals from August 31, covering all eight police stations under the Belagavi police commissionerate.
The decision follows concerns raised by office-bearers of the Central Public Ganeshotsav Mahamandal over delays caused by the existing approval process. Organisers currently have to obtain permissions from several agencies, including the police department, Belagavi City Corporation, forest department, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and HESCOM.
Under the new arrangement, application and permission-related formalities for the various departments will be made available at a single location at each of the eight police stations. Authorities expect this to simplify and speed up the process for organisers ahead of Ganeshotsav celebrations.
The decision was taken after representatives of the Central Public Ganeshotsav Mahamandal met Belagavi Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase and raised the issue.
