KLS Gogte Institute of Technology (KLS GIT), Belagavi, conducted its Internal Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026 on Friday and Saturday, bringing together 168 students across 28 teams.
The two-day event gave participating students an opportunity to develop technology-based solutions to real-world problems. Areas covered by the teams included healthcare, cybersecurity, agriculture, disaster management, education, smart automation, transportation, robotics and drones, space technology, governance, and heritage and culture.
Entrepreneurs and industry professionals including Niraj Vernekar, Avinash Pauskar, Darshan Mutalikdesai, Raghvendra Patil, Koushal Kedari and Shriniket Katti participated as resource persons and provided domain guidance and feedback to the teams.
The event was organised with participation from the institute's principal, dean, department heads, faculty coordinators, mentors, volunteers and student coordinators. The programme focused on strengthening students' technical skills, teamwork, creativity, leadership and industry readiness.
The development is relevant to Belagavi's education and technology ecosystem, particularly as local engineering students participated in a structured innovation programme addressing problems across multiple sectors.
