A large-scale cleanliness drive was conducted across the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) and Belagavi Cantonment area on September 15, 2026, bringing together more than 750 participants.
The participants included military personnel and their families, schoolchildren, civil employees, Cantonment residents and sanitation workers. The drive covered approximately 15 km of roads across the 750-acre Cantonment area, including stretches near the Military Hospital, schools, Regimental Centre and other military establishments.
Approximately 100 kg of plastic waste was collected during the operation. The waste was transported for disposal at the Turmuri Trenching Grounds through arrangements involving the Belagavi Cantonment Board. Sanitation workers were also recognised during the programme for their contribution to maintaining cleanliness.
The initiative is notable for its participation from both the military and civilian communities and its focus on plastic-waste removal across a substantial portion of the Cantonment.
