Officials of the Sri Renuka Yallamma Devi Temple Development Authority conducted inspections of hotels, eateries and grocery shops at Yallammagudda on Sunday and found multiple food-safety and licensing violations.
According to The Times of India, the inspection team led by authority secretary Prabhavati Fakirpur found rotten vegetables and fermented grains allegedly being used in food preparation at some establishments. Officials also found shops selling expired medicines and products, as well as soft drinks and packaged food without proper manufacturing or expiry information.
Some establishments were found operating in unhygienic conditions, while notices were issued to hotel owners operating without valid licences or with expired permits. Officials also reported unauthorised sale of medicines and tablets at some kumkum, bhandara and grocery shops.
The authority warned traders to comply with sanitation and licensing requirements and said regular inspections would continue. Power supply to some establishments was reportedly disconnected for rule violations. The inspections are particularly significant ahead of Navratri, Banada Hunnime and Bharat Hunnime fairs, when large numbers of devotees are expected to visit the pilgrimage centre
